Kettering and Five Neighboring Communities
Delco Park Electric works in Kettering, Ohio, and in the neighboring communities of Oakwood, Centerville, Moraine, Beavercreek and southern Dayton. Homes and small businesses in those six places can arrange a visit with a call or a message describing the problem.
Each of these communities borders Kettering or lies close beside it, and the houses and small commercial buildings across them share much of the same history: older cores, postwar neighborhoods and newer subdivisions, each wired to the standards of its own decade.
Communities and Their ZIP Codes
The table lists each community with the ZIP codes that fall within it. Several ZIP codes cross community lines, so the same code can appear under more than one name.
| Community | ZIP codes |
|---|---|
| Kettering | 45409, 45419, 45420, 45429, 45439, 45440 |
| Oakwood | 45409, 45419 |
| Centerville | 45458, 45459 |
| Moraine | 45439 |
| Beavercreek | 45430, 45431, 45432, 45434 |
| Southern Dayton | 45409, 45410, 45420 |

Notes on Each Community
The communities differ mainly in the age of their buildings, and the age of a building shapes most electrical work: how much capacity the panel has, whether the outlets are grounded, and how many changes earlier owners have made.
Kettering
Kettering is the company’s home. A large share of its houses are ranch and split-level homes built in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, many with basements. They were wired for the loads of their day, and many have since gained central air conditioning, larger kitchens and finished basements, so panel capacity and added circuits are common subjects.
Oakwood
Oakwood’s housing is generally older, with many homes from the first half of the twentieth century. Houses of that age can carry wiring from several eras at once, and an older panel or a run of ungrounded outlets is a frequent starting point for any plan.
Centerville
Centerville combines an older town center with residential streets built across the later decades of the twentieth century and since. Electrical needs there range from repairs in older buildings to lighting, outlets and charger circuits in newer homes.
Moraine
Moraine, on Kettering’s western side, mixes residential streets with commercial and industrial areas. Both homes and small businesses there fall within the area served.
Beavercreek
Beavercreek, to the northeast, has many houses built in the later decades of the twentieth century and since. Newer houses generally start with more capacity, though a major addition such as an EV charger or a finished basement still calls for a look at the panel.
Southern Dayton
The southern part of Dayton, just north of Kettering and Oakwood, includes many older houses and small commercial buildings. In buildings of that age, outdated panels, ungrounded circuits and wiring altered over the years are all common findings.
Addresses Just Outside the List
The list follows the communities named above rather than a line drawn on a map. If your address sits just outside those towns, call and ask. The number is (937) 719-8299, and a short description of the address and the problem is enough to begin.
Visits, ZIP Codes and Building Departments
- Is a visit arranged differently outside Kettering?
- No. A visit in Oakwood, Centerville, Moraine, Beavercreek or southern Dayton is arranged exactly as one in Kettering is, starting with a call or a message about what is going on.
- What if a ZIP code is listed under more than one community?
- Some ZIP codes cross community lines, so the table shows them under each community they cover. An address in any of the listed communities is within the area served, whichever name its ZIP code is listed under.
- Which office handles permits for a job?
- Where a job needs a permit and an inspection, they generally go through the building department that covers the property’s address. For some communities that is a city office and for others a county one, so the right office depends on the address.
Arranging a Visit in Any of These Communities
For an address on the list, the request page takes the details of the problem, the building and the community, and a call follows to ask a few questions and set a time.
